To help our users collect and manage data more effectively, we’ve introduced two upgrades to countCLOUD: the ability to process pedestrian and bicycle turning movement counts at a trail junction and new Map View functionality.
Expanded Trail Count Capabilities
Previously, trail counts in countCLOUD only supported directional pedestrian and bicycle movements along a single path. Now we support turning movement counts at trail or path junctions enabling a much more detailed picture of trail usage.
Users can now define up to four trail approaches at a single counting point, allowing for tracking of turning movements for both pedestrians and cyclists. This enhancement is ideal for shared-use path intersections and trail networks where understanding flow patterns matters.
The image below shows an example of a three-leg trail intersection where EB, WB, and NB turning movements would be provided.
Optional Map-Based Setup & Management
We’ve also introduced an optional mapping tool to help with quality control and project management. For every count in countCLOUD, users can now:
- Drop and rotate a camera pin at the setup location to visually verify placement and approach labeling.
- Use the All Locations Map tab to browse and filter counts by geographic location and data collection date.
This feature provides an additional QA/QC step for your workflow but remains optional as labelled count sheets are still required.
