Earlier this year we provided a summary of countCLOUD improvements that were implemented over the last year. This blog post provides a more detailed review of the count sheet improvements discussed in that summary.
Pedestrian and bicycle crosswalk movements were updated to include the direction of movement within the crosswalk. These directional movements are still reported on the vehicle approach leg they are crossing, but now include the specific direction of movement within the crosswalk. Pedestrian and bicycle crossing are each shown in the “Cars” and “Heavy Vehicles” tab, respectively. It is worth noting that the bicycle movements are only for bicycles in the crosswalk, as bicycles in the roadway are presented in their own tab. Image 1, below, shows the pedestrian movements at the southbound approach of an intersection. 3 pedestrians traveled westbound within the crosswalk while 1 travelled eastbound.

Full turning movements for bicycles in the roadway are included in all of countCLOUD’s turning movement counts. Entered into the “Bicycles” tab the counts provide left, through, and right turn movements for bicycles traveling in the shoulder or roadway. Daily summaries of each movement are also provided on this page, shown below. These movements are not included in the daily summary information.

Last, but not least, the daily summary tabs were updated to provide more detailed data summaries. This includes the addition of a mid-day peak hour automatically calculated from the completed count data. For each peak hour, heavy vehicle percentages, and peak hour factors, are now reported at the movement, approach, and intersection level. This information, along with the daily turning movement summary figure, can be easily printed to PDF form from directly in the excel sheet. Image 3, below, show the peak hour summaries and daily turning movement summary figure in PDF format.
